The 26-year-old actress appears alongside Bachchan and Bipasha Basu in the upcoming Players.
Kapoor told New Kerala: "He thinks I am a little bit too naive for this industry.
"He said, 'You need to become smarter, Sonam. This industry will spare nobody. You have to be smart and not say or do whatever you feel like'.
"Generally, whenever somebody hurts me, you can see it on my face. I cannot hide anything. So [Abhishek] kept telling me to be smart."
In August, it was reported that Kapoor rejected Neil Nitin Mukhesh's advice on dance routines in Players, which is a remake of 1960s classic The Italian Job.
