However, the actress conceded that she would not be where she is today without the support of the Slumdog Millionaire star, claims Mid Day.
"It is unfair to my father's hard work to say it has nothing to do with me," she said. "He has been in the industry for 30 years and he has worked for his children and if we don't bear the fruits of his hard work then who will?"
The I Hate Luv Storys star added that being a second-generation Hindi film actor does not ensure longevity in the industry.
"My father always says that there are lots of star kids who have come and gone, and if you have stayed on and are among the top ten, then the credit goes to me too," she said.
In spite of the Kapoor surname, Sonam's movies Saawariya, Delhi 6, Aisha, Thank You and Mausam have failed to meet box office trade predictions.
Sonam will be seen next in action thriller Players, which is released in January 2012.
