The film, directed by Vikram Bhatt, has been described as an "erotic thriller".
A source told Mumbai Mirror: "When Vikram Bhatt approached Karisma, one of her basic anxieties was regarding intimate scenes.
"Though she is quite excited about playing five different avatars in one film, a lot of intimate scenes in the script were a cause of worry. Vikram's films have always been unabashedly erotic. Dangerous Ishq was no exception."
Co-star Rajneesh Duggal confirmed that there would be no sexual scenes in the film.
He said: "Karisma and I play lovers in different lives. We don't have intimate scenes together. Just happy romantic and colourful moments."
In November, Kapoor revealed that she had returned to acting for her children.
