The director has cast Dabanng star Sonakshi Sinha and Akshay Kumar in the lead roles in the movie.
Kunder told Hindustan Times: "As it comes from the same camp as [Farah Khan's Tees Maar Khan] and [Housefull] and Akshay is playing the lead, everyone thinks Joker is a comedy, which it's not. Though this film is sci-fi, it has doses of humour.
"Farah is very commercial in her approach, while I am more subtle. I can never do a full-on comedy."
In November, Khan admitted that she has been prepared for Bollywood since her youth because of her family's involvement in the industry.
It was reported in December that Sinha and her Son of Sardar co-star Ajay Devgn's appearance on location had caused a near-stampede in an Indian train station.
