'Crazy' John Abraham fan 'grabs hand, bites finger'

John Abraham is said to have been bitten by a fan during a personal appearance.

The actor was opening a jewellery store in the Indian city of Mangalore when the incident took place, reports DNA.

"I saw the girl crazily running away shouting, 'I touched him'," said Mohammad Basheer, a member of the Desi Boyz star's entourage.

The fan is alleged to have first shook hands with Abraham before grabbing his hand and biting his finger.

However, a source for the Karnatakan police blamed event planners for not ensuring adequate security.

"It was a record crowd that gathered in the city for a private function. We had a hard time controlling it," said the representative. "We heard that the actor was bitten by a girl but there is no hard evidence."

In 2009, Kareena Kapoor provided food to an obsessive fan who had gone on a hunger strike outside her Mumbai residence.

Abraham is expected to begin filming on Dostana 2 in the next few months.
