The actress dismissed claims that her upcoming release had been inspired by the Silk Smitha biopic, reports Hindustan Times.
She stated: "Vidya did a fantastic job and I don't like clarifying rumours, but I have to assert that there are absolutely no similarities between the two films. Silk was an item girl while my character, Mahhi Khanna, is a heroine."
The actor's current release Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu had earlier been criticised for its parallels with US hit What Happens in Vegas.
Although Kapoor had been first choice for the role in Heroine, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan later started filming on the project, before pulling out when she fell pregnant.
Kapoor's next movie, Agent Vinod, sees the star reunite with Saif Ali Khan, following earlier collaborations on Tashan and Kurbaan.
