Bipasha Basu: 'I've never been single for long'

Bipasha Basu has admitted that she is single for the first time since the age of 16.

The actress broke up with long-term boyfriend John Abraham early last year.

Basu told The Times of India: "Personally, after my break up, I realised that I've never been this single since I was 16! So, come to think of it, I've never ever led the single life, so I might as well live it now!

"Just recently, during a film promotion, I was asked to give advice to a couple about love etc., and I was like, 'My mental state is like that of a 16-year-old so please ask someone else'!

"I've become like a poster girl for the single gals! But... Bollywood reflects Indian society. And in our society, women can't be single for too long.

"That said, a baby step towards a change in mindset is happening. Thank God!"

The Players star has previously admitted that her "split from Abraham was not "amicable".

It was reported that the former couple have since ignored each other at a Bollywood gathering.
