The actor said that she is interested in experimenting in a wide variety of films, with the exception of action projects, Mid Day reports.
"Comedy is something I would like to explore. And speaking of other genres like action, it's something I am not interested in," she revealed.
Balan, who achieved critical acclaim last year for playing parts based on real-life figures in No One Killed Jessica and The Dirty Picture stated that she would like to do something similar at a later stage.
"I may like to do a biopic on Indira Gandhi or something like that," she indicated.
The star added that she would also be interested in working on a project based around extra-marital affairs, despite their lack of commercial acceptance by Indian cinemagoers.
Balan explained: "I want to do something where there is lots of drama as our lives are dramatic. Maybe do something like Arth, Silsila kind of film, something on extra marital affairs as wherever we go we get to hear about it."
Silsila, featuring Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bhaduri, and Rekha, centred around a love-triangle between the three figures and is reportedly based on real-life events.
