The film director has never recorded a song with the legendary singer for any of his movies and has stated that it was a long-held dream of his to do so.
The CEO of Sanjay Leela Bhansali Productions, Mr Sandip Singh, confirmed the news to the Mumbai Mirror, saying: "Lataji called Sanjay for his birthday on Friday. They spoke at length. He was totally thrilled.
"He told me that she had always been like 'Saraswati Devi' (Goddess Saraswati) for him and now he would record a song with her.
"Sanjay had always wanted to record a song with Lataji for one of his films. However, he never thought any song was worth her voice. This time, he has composed a song himself and he will be recording it with her."
Bhansali once claimed that he is not a Lata fan but her "worshipper".
He said he drew inspiration from Mangeshkar when composing the score for Chenab Gandhi.
He also stated that the singer was the inspiration behind the film Guzaarish.
