The actress told the Hindustan Times that her mother was distressed seeing news reports about her son on television.
"Ma got very scared. She started calling me, seeing media reports on the television. She was unable to get through to him. Finally, they had a talk and everything is fine now," said the actress.
On Tuesday night (February 21), the Agent Vinod star was allegedly involved in a fight with South African businessman Iqbal Sharma in the Wasabi restaurant at the Taj Mahal Palace hotel, Colaba.
He had been dining with his girlfriend Kareena Kapoor and friends from the film fraternity when the scuffle broke out.
"I don't think it's the first time people have got into a fight there. But since he is a celebrity, it's being taken to another level. Had it been anyone else, it wouldn't have been such a big deal. I think this happens quite a lot," said Soha.
"I wasn't there, so I don't know what exactly happened. But as Saif is a celebrity, the media got involved and the issue got blown out of proportion. Even if a car accident happens, the bigger car's driver is always blamed, irrespective of who was at fault."
Following a complaint lodged against the star, Saif and actress Amrita Rao's husband Shakeel Ladakh, who was also allegedly involved in the fight, were arrested on Wednesday evening (February 22) and released on bail later that day.
Soha said she feels the incident will not affect Saif's image or his forthcoming spy-thriller Agent Vinod, commenting: "It's difficult to predict, but on the basis of what I've read, he made a very sensible and mature comment to the media.
"He said that there are two ways to deal with anything. [He said that he] could have done it with a more Gandhian spirit, but fortunately or unfortunately, things didn't turn out that way. I think this issue should be dropped."
The 41-year-old star claims he was acting in self-defence.
Agent Vinod will be released on March 23rd, 2012.
