Ileana D'Cruz has claimed that she never intended to get into acting or modelling.
The former model will next be seen in Barfi!, opposite Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra.
She told Mumbai Mirror: "[My first break] was for an advertisement that gave me a lot of exposure. And films followed. I actually never wanted to get into modelling either. I was a complete tomboy.
"You'd never see me wearing skirts. I happened to meet Marc Robinson in Goa. He felt I could be a good model. So, I gave it a shot.
"It wasn't easy. I was only 18 years old when I started acting. The language was alien to me. I kept my fingers crossed and did my best. I thought my film would be a disaster but it did well. Then Pokkiri happened. And there was no looking back."
She added that she decided to take on the role of Shruti in the upcoming comedy because it "felt right".
In May, it was reported that the rivalry between D'Cruz and co-star Priyanka Chopra was delaying the film shoot
However, Barfi! director Anurag Basu denied that the two actresses were unfriendly on set.
