Veteran actress Achala Sachdev has died at a Pune hospital.
Sachdev, who was 91 years old, was diagnosed with multiple emboli in her brain which led to total paralysis and loss of vision, IBN Live reports.
The actress's physician Vinod Shah said: "She passed away due to respiratory failure at 5.30 PM yesterday. She was bed-ridden for about six months after she suffered a cerebrovascular (brain attack)."
The Waqt star's condition turned critical a few days ago and she has been on ventilator support since then.
Born in Peshawar in 1920, Sachdev made her Bollywood debut with the film Fashionable Wife in 1938.
The actress has worked on more than 130 Bollywood films, including Haqeeqat, Mera Naam Joker, Julie and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. She also played Kajol's grandmother in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.
Her last Bollywood film was the Hrithik Roshan starrer Na Tum Jaano Na Hum, which was released in 2002.
