Following much speculation, the 78-year-old playback singer has been confirmed as the fourth judge for the new series of the popular singing show, PTI reports.
"I am very happy to be part of this show. I really like this show as it provides a platform for budding singers. It is a very big show," Bhosle told reporters.
The veteran singer will not be part of the audition rounds and will join the three judges from the gala rounds.
Bhosle has previously appeared on various Indian reality shows as a celebrity judge.
AR Rahman was originally approached to assume the position, but he was unable to participate in the show.
Bhosle joins the existing panel of judges, which comprises Anu Malik, Salim Merchant and Sunidhi Chauhan.
Season six of Indian Idol is scheduled to begin on June 1 on Sony TV.
