The film, which stars Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha, follows on from the box office successes of Agneepath and Bodyguard.
Speaking via Twitter, trade analyst Taran Adarsh said: "Rowdy crosses 100 crore mark. Shanghai is below the mark. Rowdy Rathore collected Rs 22 crore net in weekend 2, taking the total to Rs 101.5 cr net. Rowdy Rathore has crossed Rs 100 cr net mark at the end of Weekend 2. Has performed exceptionally well at single screens as well as multiplexes.
"Outstanding. Rowdy Rathore smashed previous records in many circuits. Has performed exceptionally well at single screens and plexes.... Fabulous!" he said.
Made on a budget of 48 crores, Rowdy Rathore had a massive opening and has become the most successful film in Akshay Kumar's two-decade long career.
Rowdy Rathore is a remake of the Telugu film Vikramarkudu and Sonakshi Sinha's second Bollywood blockbuster after Dabangg.
Directed by Prabhu Deva, the film opened on 2,800 screens across the country. Co-produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Ronnie Screwvala, the film marked Kumar's return as an action hero after seven years.
The film's success has prompted speculation that a prequel will be made.
