Bollywood stars including Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Bipasha Basu, Aamir Khan and Deepika Padukone attended the star-studded bash.
The Agneepath producer, who turned 40 on May 25, told IANS: "The party was meant to be with people I love. I can't help it if I love famous people so much. They all turned up, looking great. I always wanted this."
He went on: "At the lack of having a wedding opportunity, where everybody comes dressed and you want all those photographs in an album somewhere, I just thought I would make the 40th birthday an excuse to call all the people I have interacted with in my 15-year career in the industry.
"I always wanted them to be well-dressed and well-turned-out, so I wanted a red carpet, black tie bash, and that's what I did. It's been my biggest hit so far - my party."
The My Name is Khan director said turning 40 was a good reason to dance.
