The film has experienced several delays, due to rumoured tensions between its actors and Chopra's busy schedule.
Director Anurag Basu told Mumbai Mirror: "So many other films that have started after me, including Karan Johar's Student of the Year, are not complete. A false perception is being created that I am taking longer to complete this film than necessary.
"There's a couple of days of patchwork shooting left. We're working on the editing, background music and post-production of the film.
"[Producers UTV] have three films lined up in August and September: Joker, Heroine and my film. It's their call in what sequence they want to release them."
In April, Basu pointed out that Ranbir Kapoor had borrowed his "pensioner" look for an advert from his role in Barfi.
Co-star Ileana D'Cruz's food poisoning led to a delay in production in February, shortly before actress Chopra also had to take time out to record her album.
