The findings - including three skulls - were recovered in a town called Igatpuri, around 130 km from Mumbai, The Times of India reports.
Police have suggested that Khan and her siblings may have been murdered by her stepfather Pervez Tak because they witnessed the killing of their mother Celina.
The actress and her family had been missing since February 2011. Her father Nadir Patel registered her suspected abduction by Tak and his accomplice Asif Sheikh at Mumbai's Oshiwara police station.
During interrogation, Tak revealed that Khan had been killed along with four other members of her family and their bodies had been disposed of somewhere near Mumbai.
A team of Crime Branch officers took Tak, a suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist, to the spot where they reconstructed the crime scene, and they subsequently found the human remains of three people.
A Mumbai metropolitan court has remanded Tak in police custody until July 19.
According to police reports, it will be determined whether the recovered human remains are those of Laila Khan and her family members after forensic examination.
Khan, whose original name is Reshma Patel, was last seen in 2008 movie Wafaa with Rajesh Khanna.
The actress was linked to a terrorist attack in Delhi last year.
