The 47-year-old actor was speaking at the unveiling of a song from his forthcoming action thriller Ek Tha Tiger, IANS reports.
Reacting to fellow actor Aamir Khan's comment that Salman should marry, Salman said: "Aamir has been after me for this for a while now. I don't understand why everyone is after me to get married?"
Salman will be seen romancing former girlfriend Katrina Kaif in the Yash Raj Films (YRF) project and is seen in the trailer telling Khan's character that he has "reached the age for marriage".
Kabir Khan explained that though the dialogue was not inserted into the film deliberately, he couldn't resist the temptation to add it.
"Since I have Katrina and Salman in the movie, I couldn't resist having this," he said.
Asked to comment on her co-star's marital status, Kaif said: "I think nobody else except Salman should decide at what age he wants to get married."
The actor, who has had high-profile relationships with Sangeeta Bijlani, Somi Ali, Aishwarya Rai and Kaif, recently said that he does not try to impress women.
