The film starring Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal follows the fortunes of a fictional Bollywood actress.
The actress told DNA India: "Since an A certificate has been given to Heroine, the team has decided to have not one but three trailers.
"There will be three different trailers for the audience - the first one, which is the one with A certificate, will be launched and available online, the second one will be for the theatre and TV with the U/A certificate, and the third will be for UK, which will be for above 12 years of age.
"For the U/A trailer, cigarettes will be blurred, love-making scenes will be cut down, and offensive words will either be beeped out or replaced. The Censor Board thought the trailer was very bold and not appropriate for TV viewing."
In May, it was claimed that the actress's health was being affected by the emotional scenes in the melodrama.
Co-star Rampal has described the film as a "love story" between the two protagonists.
