Ranbir Kapoor has revealed that he will wait until he has a story to tell before making his directorial debut.

The 29-year-old actor has previously shot promotional videos for Rockstar and Anurag Basu's Barfi.

He told the Hindustan Times: "It's my dream and goal to do that, but I end up setting rough targets and not meeting them, so I guess it'll just happen naturally when I have a story to tell. I've stopped saying things like six months or a year."

The star admitted that he does not consider himself a filmmaker based on his experience so far.

"I'm just one of those enthusiastic guys who like to get involved. It's not that you're directing anything. You can't take the credit away from the person at the helm."

Kapoor added: "I'm here for the long run. I'm very greedy and wish I were in every film. There's lots left to do."

Director Basu has previously said that he would not have made Barfi without Kapoor's involvement.

In January, Kapoor described his veteran actor father Rishi as an "inspiration".
