The Ra.One star was speaking at the music and poster launch of Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi, in which the choreographer-turned-director makes her acting debut.
According to Bollywood Samachar, Shah Rukh said: "She is one of the finest and most talented directors we have with us. I thank Farah for giving me some [of the] nicest moments in her films."
Farah Khan and Boman Irani have recreated the characters of Simran (Kajol) and Raj (Shah Rukh) from Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge in a poster.
Shah Rukh told reporters that he didn't expect anyone to recreate the image from the film.
"I have seen spoofs of all movies created by others but I never thought one would ever think of making a spoof on DDLJ," he admitted.
Directed by Bela Sehgal, Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi is a romantic comedy about a 40-plus couple played by Boman Irani and Farah Khan.
The 47-year-old actress recently reported that her mother thinks she is too old to start acting.
Describing the film, Shah Rukh said: "We have seen love stories made with young teenagers but this one is different. I have seen the posters and promo of this film and I really loved it.
"It is a marvellous love story. I am sure this film will rock. I am sure people will connect with this film."
He added: "I think love can happen at any age... it has no age. There is no right time and right place for love... it can happen any time."
Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi releases on August 24.
