The actress moved back from the US last year with her cardiac surgeon partner and two sons.
She told Hindustan Times: "Konkan is a beautiful area. My kids were fascinated to see buffaloes... It's important that they know their roots as it's a part of who we are.
"[My husband and I] are a team and we support each other. When he was busy with his work back in the US, I made his life easy by taking care of everything else. He's doing the same for me now.
"We both know that our life is much more beyond this glamour and limelight, so we behave accordingly. We are professionals for each other. I entertain people and he saves lives."
Dixit-Nene will be marking her Bollywood comeback next year with Dedh Ishqiya, which is her first project since 2007's Aaja Nachle.
She has said that she is prepared to do "intimate scenes" for the sequel in which she takes over Vidya Balan's role in the original Ishqiya.
In March, the 45-year-old star unveiled her waxwork statue in Madame Tussaud's London.
