Producer Saurabh Varma is planning an Indian remake of the Hollywood film Buried.
The US movie tells the story of a truck driver in Iraq who is buried alive inside a coffin with only a lighter and a mobile phone.
Varma has reportedly bought the rights to the film, which starred Ryan Reynolds, and is hoping to secure either John Abraham or Abhishek Bachchan for the lead role.
Speaking to the Hindustan Times, Varma explained how the idea for the remake first came about: "I have been a fan of this film for a long time. I approached the studio with an idea and they liked it. It will be a commercial film. It's a challenge for any actor to keep audiences engrossed for 120 minutes."
The first-time producer said that, while he is currently considering several actors for the lead role, the script needs to be adapted for an Indian audience.
"We want an A-list actor for the lead. Right now we are looking to develop a good script because it is a Hollywood concept, and needs to be' Indianised'. We need some desi elements that are acceptable to the audience.
"It's in a nascent stage. I will approach the actors once I have a bound script in hand."
Raajneeti star Arjun Rampal has also apparently been approached about the role.
