The film, directed by Johar, centres around three students competing to win the eponymous title at their elite school.
He told Mid Day: "There were some mishaps on the sets of the disco song. So the production, well-trained by me, decided to have a puja on the sets just to see that the shooting goes on smoothly.
"There had been two to three mishaps on the sets; Varun [Dhawan] injured his nose, there was a fight sequence between Siddharth [Malhotra] and Varun where this happened.
"But now everything is fine. Then once a light was about to fall on me but I think that was a mischief played by the actors. After that the production decided to have a puja and then everything was smooth sailing."
Johar recently described actress and frequent collaborator Kajol as "lucky" for him.
The 40-year-old producer and filmmaker has said that the campus drama will be his last film featuring young people.
