The actress-turned-singer has been collaborating with Grammy Award-winning musician RedOne on her debut album.
Speaking on Twitter, Chopra said: "For ur eyes only...my single cover! Say whaaaaa?"
The 30-year-old said she is taking a leap of faith as she embarks on a career in music, The Hindustan Times reports.
"I want the world to taste the flavour of India and my music will have it," she explained. "I'm taking the leap of faith. I hope people are proud of me.
"I've given my heart and soul to this album. I am putting myself out there and hope the way India has supported me in everything, they will come onto this journey, too, with me."
Featuring Black Eyed Peas singer will.i.am, Chopra describes the track as an upbeat pop song, saying: "It's a pop, fun song that you can listen to in a club.
"Being from an army background, I've grown up in many cities - Bareilly, Ladakh, Pune, Boston, New York, Chicago, Delhi. In a strange way, the song is dedicated to every city which has influenced me."
The former Miss World, who embarked on a career in films shortly after winning the international beauty contest, said that music has always been a strong influence in her life.
"I learned how to sing even before I said my ABCD. Music was a big influence in my life. But when, during the shoot of Saat Khoon Maaf, Universal (the record label) approached me to do the album, it felt out of the blue. I gave it a shot because I am open to doing different things," she said.
'In My City' will make its international debut on the National Football League Networks pre-game show. However, Chopra has asked that the song is aired in India first.
A spokesperson told The Hindustan Times: "It will be a token ceremony on the night of September 13, but Priyanka really wanted to do this for her Indian fans."
It has been suggested that Chopra could emulate the global success of Lady GaGa. The actress is represented by Todd Carter from Atom Factory, the same management firm behind GaGa.
The first track from Chopra's debut album coincides with the release of Barfi! on September 14.
