
The fictional story of the rise and fall of a Bollywood actress, the Kareena Kapoor starrer was made on a budget of Rs. 20 crore.
Speaking to The Hindustan Times, Disney UTV's Amrita Pandey said: "Heroine has seen a phenomenal opening in all major international markets.
"This was a highly-anticipated movie and our marketing push has helped pull in massive crowds to theatres. No other female lead has seen such a response in recent years."
Despite receiving a mixed response from critics Heroine has earned $350,000 (£216,114) in the Middle East so far, $78,402 (£48,411) from 41 screens in the UK and a further $140,000 (£86,445) in the US.
Kareena Kapoor, who took over the role from Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, had undertaken an intensive promotional campaign for what has been described as a 'career-defining' film for her.
