In a blog post written after a screening of the film, Bachchan, who also makes an appearance in the movie, said that he had tears in his eyes after watching Sridevi's evocative performance.
Speaking to IANS, the 49-year-old actress said: "This is a great feeling to know that Amitabhji really enjoyed the film. Such words of appreciation mean a lot to all of us. It really builds up our confidence. I hope people also enjoy the film."
The actress said that she was so impressed by the story that she decided to make her big screen comeback after an absence of 15 years to star in the film.
"All the characters, script of the film was so good that I never thought about my look. It is just a character that I am playing. It really touched my heart. As a mother and a woman, I could relate to the character. The day I read the script, I felt I have to do this," she said.
Bachchan and Sridevi have appeared together before in Inquilaab and Khudha Gawah.
Directed by Gauri Shinde, English Vinglish tells the story of an Indian housewife in the US battling with the language barrier.
