The actor made his Bollywood debut in the violent action thriller Ishaqzaade last year.
Arjun told the Mumbai Mirror: "It is going to be a very emotional process. As a son, and as an actor, I want to give my papa my best.
"There won't be any bigger happiness for my family. I will go the extra mile for the project and so will he.
"We're looking at remakes and original scripts from established directors as well as new ones. We are open to different things."
Arjun's father has reportedly bought the rights to a remake of the Telegu drama Okkadu.
The 27-year-old newcomer has previously claimed that audiences do not care about his family connections.
He will be replacing Imran Khan in the upcoming adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's romance 2 States.
