The Teri Meri Kahaani star, who was in a relationship with Kareena for several years, said he hopes she doesn't give up acting after marriage, IANS reports.
"Marriage is a big decision and it's a big occasion. I wish them a very happy married life. I hope they are happy together. I hope Kareena keeps working as she is one of the finest actresses we have," he said.
"I know Babita auntie and Randhir uncle for quite a while," added the actor.
Speaking about his own plans for marriage, Shahid said: "I haven't decided about my marriage. You guys will make me find a girl and fall in love. But whenever I will get married, I will not be hiding it and doing it in a corner. Media will be welcomed."
The actor has been linked to several of his co-stars since his break-up with Kareena.
When asked about advice for coping with heartbreak, the 31-year-old actor said: "What can I say on break-ups and link-ups. Love is beautiful but everything should not be taken seriously and one important thing is that there are many aspects in life."
Speaking to Digital Spy in June, Shahid said he believed "love in it's purest form is eternal".
