The song, which was to feature Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif in the Swiss Alps, was the last sequence of the film that remained to be shot, Bollywood Samachar reports.
A source said: "No one wants to touch a single frame of the film. Jab Tak Hai Jaan has acquired a new significance now… But now with Yashji gone, adding anything in his absence will be inappropriate."
The song was scheduled to be shot in October, but was initially delayed due to technical issues, after which Chopra was admitted to the Lilavati hospital with dengue fever.
Designer Manish Malhotra reported that Katrina Kaif was to feature in Chopra's trademark white sari sequence for the song.
The veteran director was admitted to Lilavati hospital in suburban Bandra on October 13 after being diagnosed with dengue. He died at 5.30pm on Sunday (October 21).
Shah Rukh Khan led the tributes to Chopra. The actor recently marked Chopra's 80th birthday with a live video interview.
Jab Tak Hai Jaan releases on November 13.
