The Gangs of Wasseypur director received critical acclaim for his filmmaking this year.
He told IANS: "I would say that the audience under the age of 30 have matured. People who are above 30 have not matured.
"They still have the same morality where for them, the language is crude or they raise eyebrows at sex scenes in the film.
"The younger lot is far more matured than the older lot because they have gone out and have found access to world cinema through the internet. And today if I am allowed to make films, it is because of that younger audience."
Kashyap has denied that his approach to filmmaking is "too demanding" compared with that of other directors.
He has also accused audiences in the country of not appreciating native filmmakers.
