The film is set to clash with Chopra's posthumous release Jab Tak Hain Jaan, with both film's scheduled to open on November 13, The Times of India reports.
Vikram Malhotra of Viacom18 Motion Pictures, co-producers of Son of Sardaar, responded to the speculation saying: "The Indian film industry has lost one of its leading lights.
"Yash Chopra was a pioneering, path-breaking and trendsetting filmmaker, on whose films a nation grew up. We are deeply grieved at this loss to our fraternity.
"Among various things that the industry has learnt from the great man is supreme respect to work and commitment, as is also evident in the fact that he continued filmmaking virtually till his last day.
"To honour the same spirit, and to ensure the fulfilment of our commitment to all stakeholders involved in SOS, we will go ahead with the release of the film as originally planned on November 13, 2012.
"Film production and release is a complex process and release dates are determined months in advance, nearly a year in the case of SOS. In the overall interest of the venture and everyone concerned, it is imperative that we do not deviate from our commitments."
Devgn, whose wife Kajol has a long-standing association with Yash Raj Films, is said to be deeply affected by the death of Chopra, but is not in a position to comply with the request to postpone the film's release due to existing obligations to Viacom18 Motion Pictures and the film's worldwide distributor Eros International.
Son of Sardaar will be released on November 13, as scheduled. Watch a trailer below:
