Writing on Twitter about the award, Bachchan said: "How did it happen? It's the People's Choice Award by Colours channel for the best television host for KBC. Thank you all, who voted for me."

The Bol Bachchan star hosted the first series of KBC in 2000 and is now into his sixth season of the show.

The actor also commented on Priyanka Chopra's tribute to veteran filmmaker Yash Chopra, who passed away last week. The actress performed to a compilation of songs from the films of his 50-year career during the ceremony.

"A most touching tribute to Yash Chopra by Priyanka performing to all or most of his popular songs throughout his numerous films," said Bachchan.
