A source told The Times of India: "RGV and Kangana met a few times, because she was to be cast opposite Sanjay Dutt. But it didn't work out.

"However, the director was intrigued by the acid attack on Rangoli. That's how he came up with the idea of a film on 'the phenomenon of stalking', as he called it."

Rangoli dismissed the claims that her sister had discussed the incident with the controversial filmmaker.

"Kangana has never spoken to Ram Gopal Varma about my acid attack. We're not aware of anyone making a film on the incident. If someone is doing so without our consent, we'll take legal action," she told the paper.

Varma confirmed Rangoli's account and revealed that the film is being made by his assistant Kishore Bhargav.

In August, Kangana was reportedly upset with director Madhur Bhandarkar for basing scenes in Heroine on her personal experiences.

The 25-year-old directed her first short film in collaboration with an Australian filmmaker this year.
