Priyanka Chopra will reportedly receive boxing training from Mary Kom.

The Barfi!, star who has been confirmed to play the Olympic champion in a biopic by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, will undertake four months of rigorous training, The Times of India reports.

"Priyanka has never thrown a punch at anybody before in real life. But now, Mary will be acting as her boxing coach for four months. The first two months will be spent in learning the ropes of boxing," said a source.

"For the next two months, Priyanka will be learning how to box like Mary Kom. Four months is very little time but Priyanka is confident that she will be able to fight like a pro in those four months."

It is thought that the biopic will cover the personal life of the five-time boxing champion, including her marriage to manager Onler Kom, as well as her struggle to achieve success in the world of competitive boxing.

Chopra will apparently stay with Kom and her family in Manipur in a bid to fully understand the boxer and her life.

"She needs to understand how Mary has struggled to perfect her sport even though she had to play mother to twins and take care of her husband," the source continued.

"There are a lot of things about Mary's family that nobody knows. For instance, Mary's father became aware of his daughter's affinity to boxing only after he read about her achievements in the newspaper. By spending time with the family, Priyanka will get to know about such stories."

Kom has reportedly been working closely with the team on the development of the film and will make her Bollywood debut as one of Chopra's opponents in the film.

The boxer won a bronze medal for India in the 2012 Summer Olympics, the first Games to feature flyweight women's boxing.
