'Talaash' drug scene cut for British 12A certificate

By
Talaash has been subjected to cuts by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC).

A drug-taking scene, deemed unsuitable for a 12A classification, was cut from the suspense drama.

In Talash, a cop, a housewife and a prostitute get entangled in a mystery that links their lives in unexpected ways.

Details of the cuts were reported on the BBFC website, which stated: "Distributor chose to remove sight of a man taking drugs, in this case 'chasing the dragon', in order to achieve a 12A classification. Cut made in line with BBFC Guidelines and policy. An uncut 15 was available."

The film was awarded a U/A certificate by the Indian censor board and cleared for family viewing with no cuts, despite its dark themes.

In an interview with Digital Spy, director Reema Kagti said the film was dealing with dark emotions, making it a difficult film to make.

Starring Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukerji, Talaash releases on Friday, November 30.
