Starring Farhan Akhtar, the film tells the story of Indian athlete Milkha Singh who, after losing all his family during the partition of India and Pakistan, went on to represent India in the 1960 summer Olympics in Rome and the 1964 summer Olympics in Tokyo.
The teaser trailer, which features Akhtar walking into a stadium surrounded by thousands of people, introduces the story, saying: "You know him as 'The Flying Sikh', but you have yet to see the true story of Milkha Singh."
Sequences of the film were shot on location in Ladakh, where the Akhtar-directed Lakshya - which stars Hritihik Roshan - was shot.
Speaking on completion of the film's shooting schedule, Akhtar said: "As the shoot on Bhaag Milkha Bhaag crosses the finish line, [I am] enveloped by a sense of loss. The unit - our temporary commune - is broken up. Best wishes to all."

Akhtar - who was last seen in sister Zoya's Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara - grew his hair and beard especially for the role. He also worked on his physique and spent time with Singh in Delhi as part of his preparation.
Singh, who sold the rights to his story for just one rupee and has said that remuneration from the film will be used to support needy athletes, believed that Akhtar was the best person to play him in the biopic.
Directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag also stars Sonam Kapoor.
The film is scheduled for release on July 12, 2013.
