"I have done films for so long and my fans have always supported me. It is easy for me to do conventional films, but then I want to try something different," she explained.

"I do at least one film which is challenging for me every year. Mary Kom is that film for next year."

Chopra reportedly met with Kom and stayed with her and her family in Manipur to learn more about the boxing champion.

"If you meet her in person, you will see she is so sweet... can't imagine her to be a boxer," said Chopra.

It is thought that the biopic will cover the personal life of the five-time boxing champion, including her marriage to manager Onler Kom, as well as her struggle to achieve success in the world of competitive boxing.

The Don 2 star said that she will be training with Kom for several months in preparation for the role. "There is a lot of training going on for it. I hope I can pull it off," she commented.

The boxer won a bronze medal for India in the 2012 Summer Olympics, the first Games to feature flyweight women's boxing.
