The Heroine star has won six Filmfare awards in her career. Cousin Ranbir currently has four while grandfather Raj Kapoor won 11 FIlmfare awards in the course of his illustrious career as a filmmaker and actor.
Speaking to IANS at a press conference for the 58th Idea Filmfare Awards 2012, the 32-year-old actress said: "Since I was a child, I always thought I will win a Filmfare and give an acceptance speech, where I will thank my mother, father and family. My Filmfare trophies will follow me till my grave. Hopefully, not only six but many more.
"But I have a very tough competition in my own family now. You never know, soon Ranbir might cross my record and that of my grandfather. But that would surely be a very joyous moment for our family."
The newly-married actress, whose family are widely regarded as India's first acting dynasty, spoke of the pressures of living up to the Kapoor family name.
"The pressures are obviously there because there are so many names associated with it. But we are all taking it forward in our own way. Earlier it was me and Karisma, but I am so glad that finally there is a man in the family [Ranbir]," she said.
Ranbir and Kareena had been scheduled to appear together on Indian Idol for the promotion of their respective films. The cousins have also been approached to star in a film by Zoya Akhtar, in which they would play brother and sister.
The 58th Filmfare awards will take place on January 20, 2013 at the Yash Raj Films studios in Mumbai.
