Press and fans gathered outside the Dabangg 2 star's apartment to congratulate him on his 47th birthday.
Speaking to IANS, the actor said: "There is no party as such. Friends and families have been wishing me since morning."
When asked about the best gift he had received so far, he joked: "Main paida ho gaya yeh hi sabse bada gift hai sabke liye [My birth is the biggest gift for everyone]."
The actor was scheduled to appear in court in connection with a 2002 hit-and-run-case after receiving a summons; however, his sisters Alvira and Arpita appeared in court seeking an exemption on his behalf. The exemption was granted and the hearing has been adjourned to January 30, 2013.
Salman was arrested on September 28, 2002 after he was accused of allegedly driving his car into a bakery in Bandra and running over people sleeping on the pavement, killing one person and injuring three.
It was previously reported that a film inspired by the actor's controversies would be made.
