A big part of Bollywood films is of course the music. After all, how would it be possible to stretch out a movie into three hours without at least half a dozen song and dance sequences? We count down our top five Hindi film songs from 2012.
5. Khiladi 786 'Balma'
Watch Akshay Kumar get up close and personal with German model Claudia Ciesla and South Indian star Asin in this Himesh Reshammiya club track.
4. Ek Tha Tiger 'Mashallah'
Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif shake their thang to Middle Eastern beats, filmed in a Mumbai studio version of a Moroccan souk.
3. Agneepath 'Chikni Chameli'
Katrina Kaif knocks her rivals (and critics) out of the water with this item number. Based on a Marathi folk tune, Shreya Ghoshal's vocals blasted out of every rickshaw from Kashmir to Kanyakumari over the last 12 months.
2. Jab Tak Hai Jaan 'Challa'
Shah Rukh Khan serenades us to within an inch of our lives, strumming his guitar and making busking in London look impishly hot in this AR Rahman hit.
1. Student of The Year 'The Disco Song'
Sampling the 1981 megahit 'Disco Deewane', Karan Johar populates his video with ridiculously good looking boys (and girl) in this upbeat club number. When the opening calls out: 'There's something about tonight/Something very special', try stopping yourself from heading to the nearest D.I.S.C.O.
