Ranbir Kapoor has said that he is "nervous and excited" about performing on stage with his mother.

The Barfi! star will perform several songs with his mother, veteran actress Neetu Singh, including 'Parda Hai Parda' from the film Amar Akbar Anthony at the Color Screen Awards.

The actor, who is nominated in 17 categories, told PTI : "She (Neetu Kapoor) is very nervous... she has not performed for a while. Actually, even I am nervous and excited to perform with her.

"I coaxed my mother to do a nice jig on stage. We will be performing on songs picturised on my family members. I am sure she will steal the limelight."

Ranbir said that he would also like to perform on stage with cousin Kareena and had personally approached her with the idea.

"I tried to get Kareena to perform for the awards this time, but she was not available. She is a very talented actress. I won't be able to do a romantic song with her as we are cousins. So I guess, we will do a Raksha Bandhan song," he explained.

Barfi! has been nominated in 17 categories at the Color Screen Awards, including 'Best Film', 'Best Director', 'Best Actor', 'Best Actress', 'Best Screenplay' and 'Best Playback Singer'.

The film also walked away with the key awards at the Zee Cine awards including 'Best Film', 'Best Director', 'Best Popular Actor (Male)' and 'Best Popular Actor (Female)'.

Commenting on the film's success, Kapoor said: "When we were working on Barfi! no-one had such confidence in the film. The result has been a pleasant surprise. Nominations also do matter to me... I am happy with it. But it is the support of the audience that matters."

Barfi! was India's official selection for this year's Oscars; however the film did not reach the final selection in the 'Best Foreign Film' category.

Director Anurag Basu said that he may revive the much-loved character for a second film.
