Arjun Kapoor has dedicated his first acting award to Salman Khan.

The actor was given the 'Best Debut' honour for his role in Ishaqzaade at the Zee Cine Awards.

He told the audience: "My journey wouldn't be complete without of course my mother, but most importantly, I want to dedicate my award to Salman Khan.

"I was not exactly ready to be an actor or anywhere close to it, he saw something in me and till today I wonder what and he has never told me what he saw in me. But I am so grateful to him for all that he has done for me, and I just want to thank him!

"If this is anybody's award first, it is Salman bhai's award... thank you Salman bhai."

He shared the title with former video jockey Ayushman Khurana, who made his Bollywood debut in Vicky Donor.

Kapoor has claimed that he only started taking his acting career seriously after the success of Ishaqzaade.

The 27-year-old will be seen next in Gunday and the adaptation of Chetham Bhagat's 2 States.
