The 53-year-old actor will star in the upcoming action thriller Race 2.
He told The Times of India: "I like being fit, but I'm not delusional. A part of my fitness can be attributed to the fact that my children, who are very health conscious, urge me to keep fit.
"Also, post Slumdog Millionaire and 24, I've travelled extensively across the globe for my professional commitments. Meeting varied people has made me conscious about keeping fit, dressing well, talking nicely and looking good.
"I eat right, work out twice and need my six to seven hours of sleep. A lot of it comes from recognising the fact that you are not very young anymore. If John [Abraham] has to work out once a day, I have to hit the gym twice."
Race 2 co-star Saif Ali Khan recently said that both he and Kapoor were inspired by Abraham's fitness routine on set.
Kapoor has previously revealed that his whole family, including actor daughter Sonam, work out together.
