Analysing the highest-grossing films of the year so far, January has seen release after release underperform commercially in domestic and overseas markets.

Imran Khan and Anushka Sharma's Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola is a "flop", reports Box Office India, failing to recover its 33 crore production costs since it came out.

New releases Dehradun Diary, Mumbai Mirror, Rajdhani Express, Meri Shaadi Karao and Dekha Jo Pehli Baar have also all been declared "disasters" by the trade website.

Star-vehicle projects from the last quarter of 2012, including Dabangg 2, Khiladi 786, Talaash and Jab Tak Hai Jaan, are proving to be more popular than some of this year's movie releases.

Defying current trends, January release Table No 21 has been declared the sole hit, following positive critical acclaim and strong word of mouth.
