The actor stars in the remake of the 1983 film, in which the action was directed by his father.
He told One India: "It was nostalgic during this film. As the film is set in 1980s, it did remind me of my earlier movies when I had started in the industry. Then I had gone on the sets of Himmatwala as my father was action director for that movie."
Devgn admitted that he found some aspects of the role, originally played by Jeetendra, demanding.
"Dancing is more difficult for me than acting. It stresses me out," he added.
It was reported earlier this month that director Sajid Khan has promised him that the film will be a "100 crore hit".
He claimed last year that audiences will forget about him and his films in "40 years time".
