Saif Ali Khan: 'Directors tell Deepika Padukone to be sexier'
The actor said that filmmaker duo Abbas-Mustan were keen to bring out the sensual aspect of her character in the movie.
"It is not the first time that I am working with Deepika Padukone. It was fun. She looked a little shell-shocked sometimes because Abbas-Mustan have a unique way of communicating and speak very slowly and softly," Khan told Bollywood reporter Sunny Malik.
"They don't say too much. I have seen her with Homi [Adajania] and Imtiaz [Ali], who are more like friends and will talk a lot and hold your hand and teach you how it should be done. Whereas, Abbas-Mustan will say 'thoda aur sexy karo' or do it sexier. I would laugh and would say go for it.
"But again, she approached it right and added some complexity and depth to her character, which is why I say that she will go very far."
Khan went on to add that Padukone's part in the film is not typical of a usual Bollywood heroine: "It is almost a negative role but she has given it sympathy."
Khan and Padukone prevously worked together on Love Aaj Kal and Cocktail.
A sequel to the 2008 action thriller, Race 2 is out now.
