The actress will perform to the track in the forthcoming film Shootout at Wadala, produced by Ekta Kapoor.
Chopra told PTI: "I did want [to] work with Ekta, and she was very persistent about the song. It was a conscious decision for me not to do an item song after all these years in Bollywood.
"But it was great opportunity as both of us had really wanted to work with each other. So I just decided to go out of my comfort zone."
The 30-year-old star has reportedly been paid Rs 2.8 crores for the item number, which has been described as having "glamour... but no vulgarity".
The actor-turned-singer recently stated that she was unable to sing for Bollywood films herself since it would violate the terms of her record contract.
The story of gangster Manya Surve, Shootout at Wadala comprises an ensemble cast including John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Manoj Bajpayee, Tusshar Kapoor and Kangna Ranaut.
Directed by Sanjay Gupta, the film is scheduled to release on May 1.
