Aamir Khan has reportedly agreed to a special appearance in a film celebrating 100 years of Hindi cinema.

The actor was apparently asked by producer Ashi Dua to take part in the sequence for Bombay Talkies.

A source told the Mumbai Mirror: "Getting Aamir Khan on board was a last-minute decision. Considering his contribution to our cinema and the occasion of the Bombay Talkies project, we felt his presence was a must. He was our best-kept secret, until now."

Producer Amit Trivedi also pays tribute to legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan in the feature, with the actor also making an appearance in the movie.

Trivedi reportedly asked the star's permission to write a number especially about him for the portmanteau film.

In January, Khan said that he could never successfully compete against Amitabh Bachchan as a national icon.
