Devgan told The Times of India: "I decided to do this film because it connects with the masses, the classes and today's youth.

"Today, no-one is ready to accept just anything the government says. People are ready to stand up to the authorities. They are willing to do anything and not sit quietly. That's what Satyagraha is all about."

Speaking to Digital Spy recently, Devgan said: "If you want to make a change, you have to make change happen. India has changed a lot in 20 years and that's to do with literacy and India's youth, who get up and revolt against something - not violently, but [peacefully]."

Devgan has previously said that he also loves making commercial cinema.
